  • Notes
    • Captain Roger Mallory, the son of Dr. Thomas Mallory, and named in the two wills which have been given, received a grant of land in 1660; but probably had been in Virginia a few years before. He settled in that part of New Kent county, which was afterwards King and Queen and King William, and was a justice of the last named county in 1680 (and no doubt long before), and of King and Queen in 1690. If he was the Roger Mallory who was a justice of King William in 1705, he was a very old man. In the records of Elizabeth City county appears under date of August 16, 1680, a power of attorney from Ann, wife of William Mallory, to her “father-in-law,” Captain Roger Mallory of New Kent county, authorizing him to release her dower (expectant) in certain lands there. William and Ann (Wythe) Mallory were the ancestors of the Mallorys of Elizabeth City, &c.

    • Roger Mallory patented land in Virginia in 1660 and he was also the heir of his uncle, the Rev. Philip Mallory. He settled in that part of New Kent county which later became King and Queen, and, still later, King William county. He was a Justice of New Kent in 1680 and of King and Queen county in 1693, having also the title of Captain. In 1704-5 he was a Justice of King William county.

    • Mallory, Roger, was a son of Thomas Mallory, D. D., rector of Eccleston, in county Lancaster, England, a royalist minister and brother of Rev. Philip Mallory. Roger Mallory came to Virginia before 1660, settled in New Kent county, was justice of King and Queen in 1690. His son William was ancestor of the Mallorys of Elizabeth City county. He probably had a son, Roger, ancestor of the Mallorys of Louisa county.
